A Virgin Australia aircraft has suffered damage after it collided with a towing vehicle at Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne.
The incident occurred during a ground transfer overnight.
9News understands the plane was struck after it disconnected from the vehicle while being moved to a maintenance hangar.

Vision from the scene showed a large gash on the side of the plane as workers tried to patch it up.
No passengers are believed to have been on board at the time.
